Not easily accesible means it's not in the appstores? The web clients blocked?

I know nothing about what the internet/phone/app ecosystem looks like in Iran, what is accesible, what is easy and what is hard to do. What kind of opsec people need not to get doxxed.

Also did any Iranians requested any special features that would help nostr to be more accesible there?

Appstores are banned.

Most of the .com .net .org .... are banned

All internatinal social media are banned, tiktok, instagram, telegram, twitter, whatsapp, tinder facebook, you name it. It's banned.

Most apps and webmarkets like Amazon dont support Farsi, they dont service Iran IPs due to the sanctions.

And internet are govenment controled and comes in little and expensive packages.

And to top it all, they can block internet for as long as they want whenever they do something evil or kill people. Ask Netblocks.

Thanks, that's a valuable info. So you have to use VPNs or TOR to jailbreak, which is hard/slow, spotty, unreliable and expensive. Nostr can be very data hungry too.

They can somehow block and trace VPNs too.

Even tor doesn't work. I had it since the start, I know it.

You wouldn't believe it, they have vast cyber-troops, like Russia.

That's nasty. As a regular pleb I'm out of options. So that means Nostr is not much of a help once it gets banned and relays actively blocked.

Is there something devs can do to make it better / more resilient? Because it's all rosy for westener nostritches celebrating how this is uncensurable tool, but if it's hard to use/access where it actually matters, then something is still missing.

I haven't checked the progress on Nym mixnet lately, it looked promissing from my non dev non hacker point of view. Hope something like that could help.

That is what I'm saying. When you're a regular citizen not developer, there's not much you can do.

You can take it or take it to the street, most poeple opt for the former, the rest get injured, arrested or killed.

They jailed some bitcoiners and developer over freedom of internet.

@JADI was one them.

That sucks, I remember how it was back then in socialist czechoslovakia, but there was no internet back then. People used to type on typewriters with many layers of carbon paper to make copies of forbidden materials.

Not sure how the whole dissent scene helped to tear down the system. My guess is not much, but it definitely helped when the soviet empire finaly cracked.

I hope the cracks are wide open in the Iranian regime right now.

When you are in the middle of it like us you'd think it is more complicated to solve this easy

The government cuts all access to any store that isn't approved by them, and that includes appstore, playstor.

Good VPN is really difficult to find, especially for Android.

Right now, nostr(iris, amethyst, damus) is working quite smoothly and without VPN.

I don't know squats about web3. But is it possible to get access to proxy like on Telegram? Bc it's only a matter of time before this stupid government decides to filter nostr.

Web3 (at this point in time) is just a shitcoin marketing buzzword unfortunatelly. It won't help anyone with anything.

Sideloading app apks in android is the way then, if the stores don't work.

But is it possible, in the future, to connect with other users on other platforms like lenster or orb? Tnx🙏🏻🌺

You can always access thru web if you can't get the app. (I actually prefer it. ) The problem is when they block the servers.

The nice thing with web is you can create new sites/mirrors when they get blocked. Torrent sites demonstrated that well. So prehaps that's the way, disruptable, but not stopable in the long run.

Sorry I know nothing about Lenster or Orb.
