Fees could be a million sats/vbyte, I still wouldn't touch Liquid, fedimints or cashu.

From the moment you loose custody and the ability to exit unilaterally, it's over for me.

Would you rather turn your utxos effectively to a dust (near dust)?

What's the alternative you would use if, let's say, a fee would be 1-10x of the stated transaction price?

If we get to that stage, the high fees are sustained (more than 1 month) and no trustless L2 works, then we have failed. It would be time to pack things up and move on.

Is truly trustless even theoretically possible?

Even Bitcoin (L1) is just trust minimizing solution.

We'll see how it turns out, the markets will decide what are the acceptable tradeoffs.

Trustless in the sense of "unilateral exit", not in the sense of "no tradeoffs".

LN would be "trustless" in this context but unfortunately it does not survive sustained high fees.
