I'm having to blacklist some of the public relays. They don't seem to be doing **any** spam prevention at all and are responsible for the majority of the garbage coming in from China and Japan. Just cutting out 3 of the relays dropped the load to less than 25% what it was before.

I'm rather shocked that whatever relay server software they're using didn't even code in the most basic of spam prevention. I get that nobody expected Nostr to take off like it has, but if you *hope* your protocol and server will take off at some point you should at least code in some basic spam prevention measures. Doesn't seem like they did though.
I could be wrong as I haven't examined the code, but basic IP rate limiting, duplication prevention and such isn't that difficult. I've had to do that on the backend post-processing what I'm getting from the relays to cut out mountains of spam. Now I'm just blocking the worst offenders and hoping they'll put some time into spam prevention on their end.
