Well, we've driven around the US twice, so yes I've got some stories. 😊
It feels great! I get the action, without the decision making and needing to be responsible for the maneuvering!
Below is a story from today:
We now live on dirt in Arizona and today it started raining shortly before we headed into town. We almost got stuck where one of the first roads ends in a T intersection, and the flood that was on the road we were on was joined by a flood coming from the corner between the roads, making that cut in dirt road section way deeper than we realized. There were actual waves on the flooding water, like half a foot or 10cm tall!!!
After recovering for a bit after backing out of that danger zone, we tried one of the other cross roads. A lot of them are damaged by previous flooding and unusable, but we picked a good one on the first try! 💪
We made it into town where the rain hadn't even reached yet!
When we went home just now, most of our area had dried up with only tiny puddles left. The intersection we didn't make it through earlier wasn't flooded anymore, but man was there a mud bath left behind that my husband navigated superbly though he barely had any steering ability due to the mud.
The rest of the way back was pretty good compared to that! Just a bit bumpy from where water had rushed across the road previously.
