In the future, bitcoin transactions will likely be similar to FedWire transactions.
You have probably never had to use FedWire directly. You still use the USD every day though.
Bitcoin as the main rails offers a better world. The intricacies are and will continue to be worked out.
Fedimint will be the portal into the network for individual users, Lightning (and/or other trustless layer 2s) will be the inter-federational glue, and on-chain will be the ultimate liquidity rebalancer
This is how I see it too. Maybe sprinkle a touch of Liquid (or other non LN side chain) for the rebalancing
