Cool, I'm just figuring out what I can migrate from windows to Linux. Most stuff works or can be made to work. I had to ditch my uad Apollo interface, but its cool, will use a mic preamp. I use Reaper for my daw, a lot better than the stock daw in Ubuntu studio. Ubuntu studio has a lot of stock apps tho for music production, would be good for someone starting out, as well as daw, called Ardour I think? I would look up FOSS VST/plugins for Linux , you can get most tools you need for free. The only software worth paying for is instruments (virtual) like drums, piano, strings, etc. You're gonna need an audio interface that works with Linux and a mic if you do vocals or live instruments. You could get a keyboard but you don't need one, you can enter notes on a MIDI roll
