Ever since I decided to remove filters in the way I speak and the way I act with people, I've seen two kind of reactions:
-People turning inwards, being defensive, annoyed, even outright angry at the way I spoke with them.
-People turning outwards, their eyes shining, their mind opening, considering different ways of thinking than before.
It's ok to be politically correct/walk the corporate line in our daily lives with people we don't know or don't align with, however this is just an act than cannot be played in our private lives.
Even though friends don't always agree (and sometimes do not even agree to disagree), I strongly believe more people should try to remove the gloves when they speak and interact with the people they care about.
We will lose friends along the way, which are the people turning deeply inwards, however I find that opening yourself up deepens the relationships you have with the persons turning outwards, and lets us experience way more fulfilling, even enlightening relationships.
