I think #nostr clients should be a bit better about having how-to guides built in to the app/website. For instance, I think it’s really easy to get started with Damus in setting up npub/nsec, but then an app walk through that goes over relays, gives a good sampling to connect to, and NIP-05 with current services who do this for free or low cost. Many newbies will still get lost here.

I’m literally imagining a tour/walkthrough when you first download an app, where new users have to click next through multiple steps. Not sure if this exists right now.

Might put a bad one together in Figma for this tbh

Do you know any good examples from any other apps that do this well for guidance? 🤗

I really like the onboarding flow of Duolingo. They even have their interactive bird do a walkthrough, which could be cool to have a nostrich do an interactive welcome of an app like nostr:npub18m76awca3y37hkvuneavuw6pjj4525fw90necxmadrvjg0sdy6qsngq955 . You could ask questions like what’s your knowledge of nostr, give a scale, and then based on their response provide different prompts

I think we could have an cartoonish ostrich do that

Duolingo is just generally a really good design study

There’s open source software that will do that but a lot of people just skip it.

I wish we could see the data more specifically, but there are a lot of folks that jump on a client, get an npub and nsec, follow like 20 accounts, but never add more relays or get nip-05 and then drop off after a few days.

Are there any clients considering an automatic nip-05 upon setting up your npub (like we’ll automatically do nostr verified, nostrplebs, etc unless you say otherwise) and you can opt out if you want to do your own or another service (almost like a lightning wallet providers mode or choosing the option to use your own node)

Any that you’d recommend, would love to look into it 💜

This is absolutely a necessity. The current resources we have aren’t easy to find if you’re a completely disconnected new user (I.e. if you don’t know anyone who already uses Nostr)
