This enigmatic event was a picture or foreshadowing of what God would do about 2,000 years later on the same mountain, Mt. Moriah, with His own son, Jesus. Except God would go through with the sacrifice of His Son this time and there would be no one to holler "Stop!" There would be no ram-in-the-bush substitute because Jesus Himself is the substitute for you and I, if we believe on Christ to be God's acceptable substitute for us.
