Hey! Nice to see such topic here!

As an engineer and 3d printing enthusiast, I struggled a long time with cad software on Linux. CAD tools was the only reason I had a windows machine for more than 10 years.

Short path, in my experience, you won't have luck until put yourself to learn a different way to do things.

My tips are: LibreCAD for Autocad similar 2d design, and FreeCAD for 3d and specific stuff. For the latter, take a look on the releases by a developer named realthunder.

Short story to give you hope: I saw complex examples in the internet, and although saw it was possible, I thought that it would be much harder to design in FreeCAD than in commercial alternatives. Some time ago I just designed an entire 3d printer in FreeCAD.

Good luck!
