From the beginning, I have always been attracted to the idea of "smart lists," but I would prefer to start with personally curated ones, managed with simple logic based on people, keywords/tags, and relays.

At this point is easy share them.

DVM could be the next step, a variable in the main algorithm, e.g. to enhance the thematic filter.

How much (proof of) work / input would require this from the person (user)? Imo this is often a barrier which most people don’t take. I’m a fan of curated content in communities-form, but also I’m aware this only works in niches with certain power users. So for the mass, some sort of automation is a good start and when they value this they could start curating things for themselves and others.

Sure, the platforms (clients) can offer ready to pick lists, keep them updated and permit the "power users" to clone and customize them. Not need to start from scratch.
