It’s not a secret the raspberry pi zero bootloader is closed source. I wish it was open source. Multiple contributors to the SeedSigner project have been working on adding support for other hardware (that are more open source). As you know, it’s not easy.
Discussion
I know it's not easy. But that is not an excuse to minimize security concerns such as tampering/exfil, supply chain attacks, etc... and advocate for poor security practices. I have a lot of respect for your
work and Foss projects, which we also contribute to. I don't think some of the advocacy from some of your members do any favors for the project. Let alone the constant hypocritical attack on comercial projects while using comercial hardware.
I think that if this project was intended for education only it would find more support.
My statement about “not being easy” isn’t an excuse about security. I was stating that finding more open hardware and then building on it is not easy when the SeedSigner project is made of volunteers who occasionally get direct donations and small grants (via HRF).
I respect the hustle and products coinkite sells. I use a cold card in my own multisig setup. Multi vendor multi sig is 🚀
Much of your past rhetoric directed at the SeedSigner project makes it hard to believe you have respect for any of the contributors. You and I probably have more we agree on than we disagree about. However IMO the SeedSigner project makes practical trade offs that add values in helping Bitcoiners secure their saving.
