I’ve had employees in which I attempted to instill goals and an ownership mentality and they just wanted to be cogs—and to go home at the end of a workday and hang with their wife and play games and see their kids—and not have to clock on in the way that a driven owner and investor has to clock on 24/7. There are various types of people. After I learned this, I accepted that my time was best spent only mentoring those with that select drive to go beyond citizen participation.
