In case you missed it, yesterday I dropped a new DHP Woodrow Wilson episode.

In this one, he makes the most important & worst decision of his life, a decision that’s still negatively impacting the US & much of the rest of the world to this day: getting the US into WW1.

DHP Ep. 278: Woodrow Wilson, pt 14:

Did he make the decision, or was it made for him?

He made it. Under lots of pressures, as presidents always are. But he chose to go with the pro war pressures, against the antiwar ones. The majority of average Americans wanted to stay out, & he chose to go against them (and a lot of his own good instincts) because he wanted to use the war as an opportunity to remake the world. Up till Dec 1916/Jan 1917, he believed he could do this as a neutral mediator. But by Feb-March 1917, his mediation efforts had all failed, & there was no chance he’d be able to shape the peace as simply a mediator, without US participation in the war, so he got us into war.

No desire to let Wilson off the hook, but given the bankers' actions to set up the Federal Reserve and drive through the federal income tax at the time, how much was it an effort on their part to reshape the global order away from royal houses and empires to corporate run structures?

I just finished ep 3, I will definitely be continuing to 14
