I read a book by Pat Buchanan about 25 years ago. I think it was A Republic Not An Empire: Reclaiming America's Destiny, but I'm not 100% sure.

His political views are very different from mine, but he said the cheap stuff from China won't be so cheap in 20 years or so.

It looks like we're watching the conclusion of this thesis. The problem is the US no longer has the infrastructure to produce goods in the service economy. Tarrifs will increase prices, but re-shoring production will take a decade or so. Grab some popcorn. 🍿
