Is there anything inherently wrong with Ledger from a Bitcoin security standpoint, other than just that they also offer altcoin security?

I got my dad a ledger because turnkey was the only way he was going to do it himself, I suppose I could have setup a coldcard or seedsigner for him but it kinda defeats the purpose of someone going through the cold storage process themselves. I think ledger is fine from a security standpoint for beginners with relatively small amounts. Beats storing on exchange or hot wallet obviously

Fair point. We shouldn’t let perfect be the enemy of good. I would say, however, that Blockstream Jade is just as easy to set up and use as Ledger, and it’s bitcoin only

Does that have a solid mobile app? I've been sticking with Ledger primarily because the app is quite convenient for generating new addresses.

Different flavors dor differnt folks. I only use trezor, dont trust intel.
