In 2018, a 13-year-old boy named Jaequan Faulkner started a small business selling hot dogs in front of his home in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

His aim was to save money for new school clothes. However, after someone complained to the health department about his unlicensed stand, health inspectors paid him a visit.

Instead of shutting him down, they chose to help him. They taught Jaequan how to meet health and safety standards and even covered the $87 permit fee themselves.

Jaequan's hot dog stand, Mr. Faulkner's Old Fashioned Hot Dogs, became a success. He runs it during the summer, working four-hour days, and pays himself and his family members who assist him.

Jaequan loves managing the stand and is thinking about expanding his business, possibly with a food cart. He also plans to donate some of his earnings to charities that support people with depression.
