Since I am new to #nostr, I’d love to learn:

-How to properly set up my nostr account? What are the tricks and tips?

-How can I choose me relays for the most stable connection? Is it the more relays the better?

-How do zaps work? How much sats is recommended to keep in one‘s Nostr wallet?

-I have set up a nostr:npub12vkcxr0luzwp8e673v29eqjhrr7p9vqq8asav85swaepclllj09sylpugg wallet, the one that‘s in-built. I guess that‘s custodial? How can I connect my own non-custodial lightning wallet? Does anyone wallet work? Probably not as I will need a “static” lightning address or LNURL, right?

-Any other learnings you guys can share?

Thanks🤝

I’m new here too, welcome!

Hey Stephen welcome to nostr 🫂

Welcome. Don’t keep in your zap wallet more than what you would be willing to loose. These are custodial hot wallets.

I don’t run a lightning node yet, but in settings on every client you will have a wallet option.

Definitely start by checking the settings of different clients.

Regarding relays, don’t get a lot, about 10 is ok.

- add a bio, profile picture and header. Verify it with NIP-05 verifier.

- you don’t need as much relays. Choose a few that are well connected. More relays doesn’t necessarily mean a better experience. I think around 10-15 max would be fine, but I’m no expert. This site may be helpful: https://nostr.watch/relays/find

- zaps are small pieces of #bitcoin that you can send and receive as an appreciation for a note. How much Sats you keep in your wallet is personal and depends on what feels comfortable for you and your budget.

- Primal’s wallet is custodial indeed. To make it easy to connect to your own non custodial wallet try nostr:npub1getal6ykt05fsz5nqu4uld09nfj3y3qxmv8crys4aeut53unfvlqr80nfm and install Albyhub on your Lightning Node. You can connect it very easily, check out their documentation here:

https://guides.getalby.com/user-guide/v/alby-account-and-browser-extension/alby-hub/getting-started

- follow hashtags, follow people, but more importantly interact with notes and people. It will start to feel very organically once you get started.

Also a very nice thing to do is login with just the npub of someone you like and get a glimpse of how their feed looks based on their following.

From there you can expand your own network 💡
