I now have a half dozen of these little boards. Your computer never needs to know that you use a USB keyboard. Let it just think you are PS/2 for life!

You could also use it to connect a modern keyboard to a #retro computer. 486DX, anyone? 🤓

I'd offer these up for sale, but I think there are probably no more than two people who would both be interested and be on #nostr. 🤣 So I guess I'm just building these to amuse myself. Oh, and personal use (that's where the one is that is not pictured... it's in production).

My computers don't have a PS/2 port?

Or maybe I don't understand what's being faked here.

I think it just makes the computer drivers system think it's PS/2 but you're using USB

Then this isn't for you. I use it to avoid allowing any USB devices access to dom0, so it's a security improvement for me.

Also, what kind of computer doesn't have a PS/2 port? A laptop?

😅

Post on amethyst, shopstr, or plebeian market and let the market decide

That sounds like a lot of work. How about you post 'em and if they sell, you get 10%? 😎

😂

Am I usually too lazy to do this, but this aligns with my #nostrability work - making sure the products posted work across the apps.

I’ll do it for the learning by doing.

If anything sells send the zaps to nostr:npub1qktts9naunvjdwsktq5xjdhwh539xt4x0mqj4yxq0q9dvm03ljvs6sms0r

as they’ve been helping out people in need post natural calamity.

OK. The hats are $12/each + shipping (about $9 in the US). No shipping outside the US.

Extras:

- Raspberry Pi Pico: $7

- PS/2 cable: $11

- USB micro to USB-A female: $4

- USB-A (male) to 2x USB-A (female): $5

Gotta admit, I didn't think you'd take the offer. 🫡

Oh, what the heck... everything, including shipping for $30. I mean why not, right?

How to build one? Any good guides or is this your own design

My own design, but you can make one yourself too.

I did not write the code but I can attest that it works for all the keyboards I've tested and most of the mice, however my mice don't have compatible scroll wheels (see the issue in the upstream GitHub issue tracker)

Appreciate it, thanks!

If you're in the US, I'll ship you one of my prototype hats for free if you pay shipping.

That would be would be really amazing but the address doxx would be too rough. I've been meaning to setup a remailer provider hopefully when I get that done I will be able to take you up on it.

Completely understandable 🫡

Do any modern computers even have PS/2 ports? I'd think this would only be useful for retro computers...

Yes, pretty much all desktops have PS/2 ports unless you get a little tiny NUC or something.

Laptops are usually stuck with USB-only. You have to eork to find PS/2 ports there nowadays.

The only reason I wanted it was for a security boost in Qubes.
