For me, a couch potato, all those sounds intriguing, but I would prefer not to ever need any of that... If you know what I mean.

I will, even if I am lazier than I wish to be.
As I'm saying it is intriguing, it is fun to aquire the theoretical knowledge, enjoy it as a hobby, but I would prefer not to depend on it with my life. It is like I prefer the idea of gun ownership to actual gun ownership.
Actual gun ownership is terrifyingly awesome. You have to be responsible, and I think that responsibility tends to make one a better person.
Self-reliance is a moving goal. I love learning new skills. It is a hobby of mine, I've decided. I am able to be more flexible because I have a much wider skill base to draw from, and that makes much if what I do and am less fragile .
