The Meta execs responded to this podcast insisting that they will support ActivityPub.

I did feel that the arguments raised in the show made sense. The philosophies of decentralized protocols and centralized platforms are too different and “lack of data” collected by ActivityPub does sound like an issue for Meta. They may pretend they integrate something along decentralization lines, but I doubt it will be anything close to what people might expect.

Anyways I’m not the one to make weighted assumptions here. Enjoyed the show though. Thanks for sharing!

And Alex Stamos who makes the argument used to be head of security for Meta / Facebook. So he does kind of know what he’s talking about.
