Well even for local exchange etc. To barter with is impossible due to denomination issues, to swap for fiat costs % for commissions... Basically it's useless.

physical gold has hodlers worldwide than bitcoin (also not need any electronic device to hodl or swap or tech knowledge)
I can swap sats with anyone with a mobile instantly and low cost and any denomination. You can't do that easily with gold. Admittedly, you can swap for fiat if needed in most places, but you pay commissions and it can take some time. You then need to use fiat to transact.
