Some of my european friends failed to get P

pizza from pizza hut at their visit at china. They had no means to get Wechat as foreginers. They told that cash is basically non-usable in big cities. If someone takes it, they usually won't be able to give change.

Is west following the same route?

idk if the west is following the same route but cbdc or cbdc-like supervised financial system is fully unfolding in China.

btw every store has the obligation to accept fiat cash despite in reality 99.99% people pay by scanning QR codes, customers can report whoever wouldn't accept it, there are still tons of rural merchants who couldn't play with QR codes.

Unfolding everywhere or just in the main cities?

I have seek Chinese people claiming there is not much reality behind social point tracking or mass-surveillance tools in smaller cities or rural areas at all.
