The malaysian individual income tax is capped at 30% (average about 11%) but we do have other form of taxes such as SST, roadtaxes, tolls, utility tax and land taxes.

For the taxes we paid we get subsidized primary & secondary school, healthcare and discounts on certain food products (its not free, but subsidized). Plus we get tax leniency for some initiatives like electric vehicle and some savings program.

Overall i dont think its bad, but not that very exciting considering we have miniscule wages here (mean of MYR36,444 / 7838 USD per annum), subpar education system plus no tertiary level subsidies, healthcare facility which is far from perfect and lower purchasing power (a typical apartment will cost about 115 months of wage and a basic car cost 13 months of wage).

How about your country?

in a way, yeah. but their wages are quite high and purchasing power is strong.
