Istanbul: Blockchain City-State
I accidentally took more medicine than I should have taken. I got lost in the economic district of Istanbul and had psychosis for 4 hours. It was amazing. It was like a waking dream. I will describe one of that dream/psychosises. In the dream, Istanbul was a Blockchain City-State. There were very few livable cities in the world. Istanbul was one of them. The world was scary and full of scarcity. It is impossible to live a safe life outside the cities, and almost all of the cities were rule as a "Blockchain City State". Entries to the city was only made with a visa. The city was covering basic needs for every citizen such as food, water, health. (By the way, what I saw was definitely not a utopia.) There was scarcity all over the world. All food that entering the city was recorded. Population and the health information of each citizen was also recorded. No one could cook at home or buy ingredients for cooking. People could only order food from a interface that city provided. The city was controlling all food intake and distribution. The food stock of the city, the population of the city, food production and distribution, health centers and their information, health statistics of the population and data of all bureaucratic institutions involved in the city-state administration were recorded in a system that was open to everyone, it was impossible to make retrospective changes and all data were interconnected. For example, someone gains 10 kilos and that person's weight gain information is recorded. The amount of calories that person needs to take changes, the food portion that person can order changes, and the city's food intake and food stock sharing among citizens are adjusted automatically according to the new weight information. Such a system was needed because without such certainty it would be impossible to live in a world of scarcity. It wasn't utopia and wasn't like anarchism, because there was so much vulnerability, especially in the city borders. That's why it looked so much like a police state but food, health and population data were transparent and accessible to everyone. It was very advanced cybernetic system and with each new information new calculation is made, statics is changes and action need to make is adjusted. All automatic and open to everyone. The citizen could check all the information through an interface, make a doctor's appointment, order a meal, check their health information, read the city’s statistics. All in the same interface. It was a dystopian, politic and sci-fi psychosis and I really loved it.
