O God, you are my God.
I will seek you early.
My soul thirsts for you.
My body longs for you in a dry and thirsty land where there is no water.
I long to see your power and your glory, like I have seen in your sanctuary.
Because your love, and your kindness are better than life, I will praise you,
I will bless you while I live, and I will lift up my hands to your name.
My soul will be satified like Im eating marrow and fat, and I will praise you with joy.
I think about you at night when I am in bed because you have been my help,
and I sing in the shadow of your wings.
My soul follows hard after you.
Your right hand upholds me.
But those who seek my soul to destroy it, shall go into the lower parts of the earth.
They will fall by the sword. They will be food for foxes.
But the king will rejoice in God.
And everyone who swears by Him will glory,
while the mouths of those who lie will be silenced.
-- A song written by the second king of Israel, around 1000BC.
