What exactly is a "terrorist"?

Someone who strikes without warning and without regard for the lives of non-combatants?

What else?

One who goes outside the norm for rules of engagement.

I think the direct definition is a long the lines of someone who uses fear as a means to manipulate a group of people

Well, that sure implicates quite a few doesn't it!

Ngl, that's why I kinda roll my eyes any time anyone invokes "terrorism". It's too loose and broad a term to actually be meaningful, imo, and its power to weaponize and divide the public is scarier to me than any "terrorist"

Agreed. Same goes for *the war on terror* of the 2000s and 2010s.

Declare war on something scarry and vague with no real boundaries, no clear enemy, and no timeline, fueled by a money printer with no limits, an establishment class with no accountability, and for reasons almost nobody fully knows because the real motives are kept from public scrutiny.
