A bad development for the Tornado Cash case, which has implications for bitcoin-based privacy tools as well.

What a load of bollocks. I thought the UK was bad but Yanks are off the scale. I'm going to live in Russia. Its more down to earth

well i guess that means were going to have to rebuild the political system after we finish rebuilding the financial system. bitcoins work is never done. ..

Wow t hey made the chad cartoon into a real person

in principle, I think the operation of any service or custody of an asset should be key to staying within boundaries of current law. Seems his attorneys are taking that angle but ... I'm not a legal expert.

Did you read the article?

It does not matter if they knew, were involved, or guilty of ANY crime.

They are still guilty. Read it closely.

By this measure, if you develop anything and someone else uses it against Government wishes/rules/code - YOU are guilty of the crime even if you had no knowledge and were not involved in any way.

The judge even says 'the law is clear' of this fact. Which is even more nuts. The legal system is completely off the rails.

thanks for sharing Fred 🤙

🤮🤮🤮 When rulers run corruptly under the veil of good, and it is clear as day, it is the most nauseating sensation.

Trump just spent his first Bitcoin for a burger meanwhile the DOJ is attacking Bitcoin, seems like we're at a crossroads here.

"to be guilty of money laundering, the defendants need not be guilty of, involved in, or even aware of the specifics of the specified unlawful activity"

Is this just nuts or am I insane?

YOU can be convicted of a crime EVEN if you are not involved, not aware, and not guilty of the activity/crime.

THIS IS INSANE.

These judges have to be bought off to believe such absolute nonsense.

Sad to see. Privacy is clearly the next big fight.

Developper will have to be anonymous. 🫤

Functional code has no 1st amendment right 🤔

and this is why we Monero

Developers are targets. We need privacy tools developed by anonymous developers with no centralised point of attack
