We can think about this as the difference between opportunity and luck. Many people wait for luck to make a lot of money, have great friendships, etc. So they want to get the result right away.

Also stories that gets into media usually sounds like overnight success, and not the real effort that went into achieving that outcome. Anyway this wouldn't be a nice media coverage that X.Y. worked 20 hours a day for 3 month to achieve this website, not counting his last 5 failed businesses...

On the other hand, luck is less likely to happen, only opportunity. But opportunity takes work to become luck. There is another nice saying:

"Success occurs when opportunity meets preparation"
