My theory is that Nostr #zaps is the reason BlueWallet chose the end of February last year to remove their custodial Lightning service. Think about it. Damus enabled zaps on February 10, leading to a surge in payment activity, immediately stress-testing the BlueWallet node, which was not prepared for a large amount of rapid transactions, and probably didn’t have the liquidity to handle it. The operator of lndhub.io didn’t want the responsibility of running a bank, so they rushed to shut it down, and had no idea how to communicate this effectively.

I would be it was more of a liability and regulatory situation.

I alluded to that also, and I agree.
