Every year you pay dues. Every year you pay for CEU’s. Every year you give them money to “maintain your licensure”. I already earned my license why do I have to keep paying you to “maintain” it?

You can always ask for a breakdown of what they spend dollars on, or read the fine print of your contract.

The boilerplate response is typically "our costs are going up."

Joining any organization that requires dues, or licensure, is good for the beginning of a career. Once you build a following, just leave and bring your following to your own site.

The best example I can think of is Pavel leaving dragon door. The kavadlos did not leave dragon door yet, but they definitely have a following.

Wow anyone who knows who Pavel is has been around. Respect. He’s a really interesting fellow. I’ve had some ideas over the years but haven’t quite found the way to implement em.
