Maybe check freedombox also. It is fairly more easy to self host certain things and it has a sharing app. Never tried it myself yet, but i hope that soon, till the end of summer or so, i will.

Yes freedombox is very interesting
So... i tried freedombox but not extensively. So far i have installed freedombox in a bootable usb stick, meaning that i installed debian in a usb stick, instead of a hard drive which is the usual case, and then followed the instructions for freedombox. Until now i have used for services within my own network and not outside of it, to the wild internet. But i noticed that you can use a freedombox subdomain to point to your implementation. I would like to use it with a dedicated hardware, but i don't have one right now and i estimate that it will take me a while to do so and use it outside my network. So... The conclusion so far is that, it is indeed easier to self host certain things this way, if you are kind of comfortable with linux, and the free subdomain is a good deal i think. Certainly interesting...
