I actually don't think nostr devs realise how bad it looks when they use ai art. I think they assume a user will think 'ah yes, this dev's primary skill and concern is coding, these AI images are merely placeholder images'.
What a lot of people will think is, (after their initial gut reaction of 🤮 'guk AI slop') is that it is symptomatic of the kind of user already present and the kind of user they wish to attract. And that is pretty bad as AI art is mostly associated with scams targeting the most gullible.

There's literally nothing worse than what you have. A monotone grey banner would be better than the current AI slop. It's literally AI slop plus bitcoin AND it's even got a mistake. If I was trying to sabotage a company I would suggest they use this image, but I wouldn't even dare cos I would assume they'd know I was trying to ruin them. 🤦♂️
Then send me something better. This is open source and none of us are skilled in creating images.
I think I would personally go for a v minimal colour background, you can make it fancy like what nostrudel did with their avatars and have the colour chosen by some sort of hex xrm the npub. But perhaps this should be a competition:).

Sure, but the initial impulse is to use ai slop. And then you have to make a case to implement something else lol. It would be better if the initpa go-to wasn't AI slop.
