Slightly overdone for my liking, but still delicious. Stalled around 129F and needed to get it done so bumped the oven to 375F. Internal temp was 133F when pulled out of the oven to rest. #foodstr #primeribstr

Im cooking prime rib forthe first time tomorrow. Tips?

Make sure you have a good thermometer. Remember the internal temp is going to raise 5-10 degrees while you let it rest.

🤙

Ive got an oven safe thermometer i trust

Did you rest with foil tent or without?

I did without. I think that debate is cooks preference. It might help stay a little warmer if tented, but it's a big chunk of meat that's going to hold a temp for a while. If you have a good crust on the roast, the steam from tenting can make it soggy.

Prime rib went well! Perhaps a bit rare for my familys preference. My 'trustworthy' in oven therometer betrayed me mid-cook, jumping from 100 degrees to 130 instantly at one point. Luckily i stayed calm, temp'd it with a digital thermometer and it was around 110. Back in the oven for 10 more mins and 🤌🤌🤌

Congrats! Yeah I have some family members that like there's done a little bit more. I still cook it to how I like and then just heat their slices up to what they want. Not going to waste a prime rib in this economy haha

Helllll no! 😂

🤙🤝
