I am not American. I don't know the differences between the two.
The Ak 47 is good to 400 yards with a caliber of 7.62x39.
The home defense gun (B&T GHM9) is good to about 75 yards and its chambered in 9mm.
You don't want high power rifles for home defense because if you miss it could kill a neighbor!
The three must have on a gun are a flashlight, sling, and iron sights.
