Re: BitVM
The one thing I learned was what “slashing” is and how it’s a potential mechanism using BitVM.
How do negative incentives influence bitcoin?

Or I’m completely misunderstanding the whole thing. It’s 50/50
Slashing is proof of stake bullshit. I feel like they mean a "justice transaction" right? Because you each put up a fidelity bond to financially incentivize each other to be honest
Sure. Terminology is different but “justice transaction” sounds better. Although I don’t hate “slashing” as a term. Tomato potato.
No slashing means something very specific to me I don't want to see the terms used interchangeably
So just a personal preference? I understand it to be a crypto term that was like a justice transaction.
ELI5 the difference?
Slashing is always used in proof of stake. You get slashed, not if you break the rules, but if 51% of the stake decides to slash you. It can involve that 51% getting your stake, but it could also mean it just goes away
A justice transaction is enforced with clearly defined rules using pre-decided funds (the fidelity bond) as justice for your money being attempted to be stolen by the other person.
I hope you can see why I don't want the terms mixed up
Gotcha. Makes sense. Justice transaction it is!
