insurance is a part of the fiat monetary complex though, it's fractional saving, basically... no guarantee you'll ever get back what you put in but you can also get back a lot more than what you put in
i would call that gambling
1. You wait until lots of people tell you what to do.
2. And then you say, “You can’t tell me what to do.”
3. Then you go ahead and do what you want.
There is no ‘we’ as I learnt from nostr:npub1fjqqy4a93z5zsjwsfxqhc2764kvykfdyttvldkkkdera8dr78vhsmmleku

also, the obvious thing is to stack sats, then if you have problems, you have savings to bail out with
soo… gay then?
insurance is equally gay as fiat currency
insurance is sucking worse than i have everseen with the 3rd party exposure & trapped participants
yeah, forced insurance is another thing too, i hate that shit
Yes, it's betting that you're gonna die early and not have any use for savings.
yeah, inheritance with bitcoin is probably the only hard problem because of how it requires granting access to the secret keys of your UTXOs to someone somehow... i think stamped metal plates stored in a secret location with a key that you keep on you would work... then normally nobody can get at it but if you ded they will find it
Multisig also can help with assisted custody or giving your loved ones a key each and keeping your keys in a variety of ways, like the solution you just said. Lots of schemes can be thought up.
It’s possible that within a decade your modest Bitcoin stack will be worth more than a payout under a life insurance policy.
You can beat the ‘returns’ on a life insurance policy … bonus: you don’t have to die!
