Tucker Carlson claims security experts have informed him there are no secure lines (eg Signal, Keet, etc). Is there veracity to this claim? And if so is this due to inbuilt back doors via comprised designers? If the software uses encryption that isn’t broken it should be secure…

If there are no secure lines then #Nostr clients with un-compromised encryption is extremely valuable as a secure line. #asknostr

He was very vague with Lex when he said that. The encryption should be fine, but the *phones* are easily hacked by Pegasus now. Just need the phone #. If they Pegasus the phone, they can see into all the apps. He should’ve specified that.

I see. So if there is a priority target there is effectively no secure line. Makes sense, thanks.

Funny I actually watched this a few weeks ago. The hotspot is a cool idea.

https://silent.link/ for your hotspot

https://mysudo.com/ for your boomer phone number

Not the Calyx hotspot?

I don't know what that is but the goal is to decouple your device with all your data on it, from the cellphone provider by removing your sim card and using a hotspot device for your data.

Yes. Protect the IMEI. They talk about it in that video towards the end. https://calyxinstitute.org/membership/internet

While i hate to shill a company competing against calyx, they only offer tmobile and sprint. I can't use those where i live. I am looking into this:

I suspect they can get access at the OS level. If you have iOS access, for example, you can theoretically monitor the apps.

I see. That makes a lot more sense. Thanks

iOS released Lockdown Mode in response to Pegasus and other vulnerabilities. But if you’re possibly the target of state sponsored surveillance then assume nothing is secure. Signal and the like are still best practices.
