Real problem for sure. Goes both ways, exploitation for one side and then a cultural mindset that keep them in that place, foster by politics....and sadly politics are a reflection of the people.
Living here in the US, born and raise in LATAM, and now seen that when that nationalism spirit rise, the desire for fair and righteous towards "third world countries " mostly, vanish for citizens.

The real development is not even on the table discussion.
I am super happy to see the exceptions, which there are few, that leave that dependency mindset and go on actually building a powerhouse themselves.
We need in general, all, no exception, to be more empathetic towards one another.
Indeed, and to not be blind to how others are being exploited under the pretense of aiding them where they can’t help themselves.
First world countries are taking advantage of the riches of poor countries and selling it as development aid.
