You just can't make this stuff up... Aruba's central bank cites the Nigerian experience as a model to follow for introducing a CBDC and reducing cash use.

The Nigerian government created a cash shortage so bad it led to protests and riots!

At the time, I explicitly wrote that this experience was a cautionary tale about why CBDCs should be avoided. Yet, the central bank of Aruba seems to see the opposite.
