I feel you. With loss there are emotions. Instead of putting them in a box only to have them pop out later, feel them. Acknowledge them. Don't close off from your feelings. Let them play out so you can come to grips with them. This is not hanging-on.

When we put our emotions in a box we're going to have to deal with them as they keep coming up, or let-go of them, which in my opinion, is much harder than processing our emotions as we experience them.
