Just a few fringe ideas, that someone like Douglas Murray might call “dangerous” and therefore ought not be platformed by podcasters because they are debunked by experts:

- LDL is not the primary cause of atherosclerosis.

- Beef does not cause colon cancer.

- Covid mRNA “vaccines” were neither safe nor effective.

- Bitcoin works as the global monetary standard, despite its inflexible supply.

- WW2 did not get America out of the Great Depression.

- Taxation is theft.

What would it seem like, if it seemed like your society lived through over a century of near total deception?

It would see so bad that all action must be taken that this not be revealed lest the calm masses get the wool lifted from their eyes and become enraged. Oh dear...

As a fan of his work, having read his books, I still don't understand his argument.

I'm only 1 hour in, and it's a weird one...

I couldn’t make it that far. But his point about getting to have your cake and eat it too, by saying “I’m not an expert”, I actually agree with, he just wasn’t communicating it effectively. The “settled history” part is pathetic.

Dude is just another censorious authoritarian.

Bingo

I gave it a listen cause I was intrigued by your post. I knew of Murray but never really paid attention to him. I’m through 45 mins and the thought that my mind keeps coming back to is “what a pompous, know-it-all ass” It’s hard for him to string a logical sequence together when pressed. Just goes in circles trying to defend his positions, which are difficult to identify

I only made it ~45m myself. I actually thought his point about “I’m not an expert” is decent, but he didn’t communicate it effectively. I think he meant that you shouldn’t say “I’m not an expert, but I’ll talk about this thing passionately anyway and you should listen to me, but if I get it wrong then it’s not my fault because I disclaimed that not an expert.” A solution for Dave moving forward may be “Hey I’m a passionate hobbyist on this, I listen to people/experts who know more than me, I may have some gaps, but we’re going to discuss it to the best of our ability so we can create some insight for listeners.”

Douglas never pinpointed exactly what qualified someone as an expert, maybe someone who supports all wars…excepts for the ones that didn’t work out so well in hindsight 🤷‍♂️

That was his only decent point, I agree. It also got annoying as he kept throwing “expert” on everything and every topic. He back paddled with COVID, which is the point where most people who now question accepted opinions started doing so. I wish they would have pressed him more on “If the experts were wrong about covid, could they have also been wrong about other topics, Churchill included?” It seemed like he was super butthurt about Churchill cause he’s a Brit

I’ll keep listening to the whole episode so you don’t have to 🤙 we’ll see if anything else interesting pops up
