I will miss saying hey Google listen to this song or playlist, but that's fine. I can cast it manually like it's 2012. What else did you find was lacking?

I think that I will miss no automatic downloads and smart downloads for offline music. Manual downloads will be different for sure.

The search function was extremely subpar. I will say I’ve been spoiled by Spotify’s where you can find a song a bunch of different ways (lyrics, misspelled words, close sounding words, etc.) but Tidal has to be exact, and even if you’re looking for a song and type it in right, the top result would sometimes be wrong or a different version.

Also, a ton of my library was continually removed. Like the songs were not availible on Tidal anymore. Like close to half of one of my playlists was greyed out some point after I added the songs.

And one minor thing, I’m not sure of all the intricacies with loading songs on streaming services, but it was a constant issue with Tidal.

Don’t get me wrong, I love other parts of Tidal like their artist pay structure, quality, and now Nostr, but those cons make it hard to use.

Thank you for the detailed review. I've been using Google Music / Google Play Music / YouTube Music since 2011. I love it and have zero complaints. I want to support Nostr though. Hopefully this isn't too much of a downgrade for me. I've never used anything else.

Hi Derek.

You should try ViMusic.

I also had a bunch of songs grayed out after importing from Spotify, but was able to re-add them afterna quick search

Not convenient but it's workable

and I find the search just as good as Spotify, though I have pretty simple needs ... you know, Jackson Five and Leadbelly 😂
