It sure would be great if blossom or cherry tree or whatever could simply support range request standards and etags that web browsers already understand instead of reinventing the wheel

For video streaming range requests are the way to go and most of the blossom server implementations support them, but its not a requirement in the blossom spec

Not really, it was an experiment to see how easy it was to chunk blobs. I wrote a BUD for it but I didn't work on it any more since I don't want to create another chunking method
