Bluesky has 10 million monthly active users. It’s still a centralized service with aspirations to be a decentralized protocol, but what they have done is working for a real set of users. They don’t overwhelm or confuse people because the main app feels like something people know and their starter packs really work for people finding their communities of interest and people.

BUT dad, we like to be confused to where we stand here

The starter pack (People I Trust) is a great idea because it is made by each user who wants to expand their community and it is a way to build or extend reputation. Like in an elite club.

A movie must first capture the audience’s interest and keep them engaged until the end. Only then will they care about the story, the director’s techniques, special effects, or production budget. Without interest or commitment, there’s no point discussing the director’s skills or advanced effects.

Same story here.

It's an echo chamber for the political left. There's only one side to any story, and if one dares to challenge your account is blocked or deleted.

Garbage in, garbage out.

😬. I don't know if this is a chicken or egg thing, but Bluesky's list culture is pretty awful. I know starter packs are different, but one persons starter pack is another persons blocklist.

They trade around lists to block and celebrate it. I don't know if the app encouraged that or if its the clientele running wild with a basic feature, but wouldn't want that here. I can see it already, everyone making blocklists of shitcoiners to circulate.

BlueSky does give major echo chamber vibes, and fails to be decentralized, but...my nostr feed in criticism of that same echo chamber is a bunch of posts saying trans people are mentally ill and should be in conversion camps as a way to display free speech...maybe there is a middle ground here?

There is also a magnitude more faggots and dense libtards there, so I dunno if that counts as winning

we dont need starter packs (yet) nostr just need to make it easier to create an account on nostr.com, regular people would just give up reading all that nerdy info on that site

Starter packs on #Nostr be like "Nostr devs", "Most #zaps", "#Bitcoin news", "Zappers", "Bitcoin devs", "More zappers", "BIT-FUCKING-COIN", "Zipzap", and "Opinions (mostly on fiat vs Bitcoin)". 🙄

Sorry, forgot the most important starter pack: "Jack"
