Lifting the sanctions was a poor decision. Instead of domestic production the U.S. chose to embolden a Marxist dictator. That is relevant information for voters to take into consideration.

sanctions don’t hurt the dictator. they hurt the people. The idea of sanctions is to starve the people of everything until they turn on the government. most comfortable Americans only understand sanctions as a word. Like “equity” or “patriot act”.

I worked in Iraq for a few years. have seen first hand the effect of sanctions. e.g. food for oil program. it was absolutely brutal for the Iraqi people. Don't think they hurt Sadam much at all.

Depends on the sanctions. General economic sanctions do hurt the people and are immoral. Ones that target the bad actors and their ability to access international benefits like university education for their children can work.
