mastodon / activitypub never really took off as the decentralized social media it meant to be.

every server has cranky rules and regulation. worse is, even if you are in a "freedom" server, you can be censored from communicating with people from other server if you or your server is in their shared block / censored list.

one of my account is in a less common server and it looked blocked on mastodon.social accounts.

and if you think the Bitcoin echo bubble on Nostr is bad, hey, at least the worse people can do here is mute you if you talk about Ethereum or whatever stuff you wanna talk too.

the echo bubble in Mastodon is bas too. everyone pushing you to support LGBT and liberal movement (or sort, i dont know seems like an american kinda thing) and if you give even the slightest opposing idea all the major seevers will block you.

yeah..bullshit.

i like Nostr. Nostr is freedom.

on Mastodon, you live on instances.

the minute you open an account, say disturbia@abc.com.

you are bound to the rules of the abc.com server. they are your lord. they tell you what you can and what you cannot say, how much text you can write, what kind of media you can or cannot upload, and if let say they choose to close your account, you got zero rights to that account. no legal repercussion whatsoever.

on Nostr, the server doesnt own you. you can create bilateral mutual agreement with how many servers you like. you own your own nsec and npub. and if you hate one server or the server hates you, you can simply remove it and add a new one.

that..my friend is the real definition of social media freedom.
