The reason they all look humanoid, and the partial reason JFK was killed, is that it's humans from the future. There's nothing else out there but us and ourselves from the future, creating paradoxes and influencing history. Free will doesn't exist in our timeline.
One possibility. The native Americans have tales of the "ant people" who were exactly like that.
