Hieromartyr Irineu, Bishop of Sirmium, staunchly confessed his faith before pagan authorities during the reign of Emperor Maximian. He refused to offer sacrifices to idols and was subjected to brutal tortures. When pressured by his own relatives to renounce Christ, he remained steadfast. After prolonged suffering, he was beheaded for his unwavering devotion.
