Both likes and zaps are dopamine hits.
But zaps are stronger activating rewards centers connected to money, which is for example also where coke hits.
I'm convinced there's no good in deleting likes and that it will mean less engagement and, for outsiders already not on Nostr it will mean it's "an app where you pay to interact".
Nostr growing means also 100s of millions of poor people living at $1/day. They should be allowed to engage with notes if they don't want to zap or comment.
More, if they comment, they'll just leave a comment with a 💜 which is exactly one problem likes solved, one of the reasons they where implemented! 🙂
Also it should be an option if you want or not to use a bitcoin wallet to interact with Nostr notes. Make them want it but don't force it.
Likes are already deeply rooted in internet culture. You're fighting psychology.
So yes. I think #zapsonly are wrong.
